This season is a rough time for lips. Thin-skinned and lacking in oil glands, they get winter-worn fast—and lip balm alone often isn’t enough to ease the ouch factor. That’s where a scrub comes in. It gently buffs away dead, flaky skin while depositing a layer of moisture.

DIY Lip Scrub

It’s incredibly easy to make. We’re talking three ingredients: 1 teaspoon each of brown or granulated sugar, honey and coconut oil. The sugar lends just enough texture to exfoliate, honey has antibacterial properties that help prevent infection in any tiny cracks and coconut oil adds serious hydration. Mix it up, massage a dab onto your lips, then blot off the excess. (It’ll last, covered, in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.)

Not feeling crafty? Here are three you can pick up that’ll do the job.
