As the summer heat starts to sink in, hot coffee takes a back seat to cooler morning drinks. From our Whipped Coffee Mochaccino to our Coffee-Banana Smoothie, there are several ways to get creative with your morning joe. One of our favorite twists on iced coffee we have seen so far is a blueberry-lavender cold brew coffee by registered dietitian, Emily Timm, as seen on Instagram at @EndocrineNutritionist. Not only is the flavor combination delicious, but it has only two ingredients!
Timm says this is one of her favorite ways to craft a summery coffee drink at home. She says, “During quarantine, I’ve really tried to cut back on coffee shop drinks and I’ve had a lot of fun getting creative at home.” Timms adds, “Bonus: This drink is low-calorie and low-carb.”
A serving that contains 8 ounces of cold brew and 2 ounces of almond drink has just 25 calories, 2.5 grams of carbs and 1.7 grams of added sugar, making it a low-calorie, low-sugar alternative to many coffee shop drinks. Choosing almond milk over dairy milk also makes this recipe vegan-friendly. During the dog days of summer, try this refreshing 2-ingredient blueberry-lavender cold brew coffee for a tasty, energizing pick-me-up any day of the week.
